for one more day
for one more day written by Mitch Albom is a great reminder that many of us have more than one more day, including me. This story about a man on his attempt at suicide takes a side trip into some in between where he is able to spend the day with his mother as she tends to those passing on or living that think of her. He gets to know all the things he missed out on and learns to forgive and value himself. He becomes motivated to live and grasp his family and friends. . . Hrmm, what a concept. Quotes of note: "You count the hours you could have spent with your mother. Its a lifetime in itself." "The more you defend a lie, the angrier you become." "’Secrets Charlie’, my mother whispered, ‘They’ll tear you...
Tuesdays with Morrie
Today I finished tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. Thanks to Peggy, I found this author when she gave me a copy of the five people you meet in heaven. Both are life enriching books. tuesdays is a true story of Mitch’s visits with Morrie. Morrie was Mitch’s professor that he hadn’t seen in 16 years but they were reunited and spent Tuesdays visiting as Morrie’s heath declines with ALS. Mitch learns the meaning of life: love and the social sharing you can do with your friends and family. Very applicable to my position in life. Here’s a little story Morrie shares with Mitch: "OKay. Here are some of my highlights enjoyed: "Strip yourselves of your former nature which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that sprang from delusion. And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind. And pu t on the new nature created in God’s image, in tru righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24 "for as he thinks in his heart, so is he. . . " Proverbs 23:7 ". ....
