Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!

TLDR: Discover why you’re contained in a box made of stories, beliefs, rules, and laws that keeps you in stress, scarcity, or frustration, and how breaking that box requires changing what you see as true versus what is actually Truth.

What?
Are you in your box? Well, I hate to tell you that you are. Just got back from sledding with the kiddos, looking at their box and life. That’s one of the funnest things about parenting – looking at our children’s boxes.

More important is looking at our own boxes. We are in a box. On the bottom are the laws of nature. On one side is our beliefs. On the top is our rules we’ve made up for life. On the right is the stories we create, experience, rehearse, or hold in our mind.

That’s our box. We’re contained and bound by stories, beliefs, rules, and laws.

If you’re in this box with stress and anxiety, you keep having stress and anxiety. With abundance, you keep abundance. With frustration and disappointment, you stay there. With low income and scarcity mindset, you stay in scarcity.

Only through getting out of this box can you make something different. In order to change, you have to change.

One of the best ways to break this box is connecting with a coach. Coaches ask questions that help you look at the beliefs, stories, rules, and laws and question them. They’re yours. You created them.

My pastor says “You don’t get your own truth.” These beliefs, stories, rules, and laws are your experience. They may seem true to you, but you don’t get truth. There’s only one Truth.

Look at science. Nurses didn’t wash hands. It was true that wasn’t a problem. Then they discovered washing hands made huge difference in recovery rates. That box shifted. What’s true today may not be true tomorrow, but the underlying Truth – God’s truth – remains.

To look at what we see as true from outside perspective, we can do it alone. But why? God put us here to be connected, to invite others to speak into our lives, give clarity, create paradigm shifts.

Then you start breaking down walls, floor, ceiling. You’re changing the box – rules, laws, beliefs, stories. All created by conditioning and your past.

If you’re happy where you are, I challenge you to break that box. Become bigger, contribute more, give more, thrive more, prosper and bless others. If you’re not happy, start breaking that box.

Why?

We don’t realize we’re trapped in a box of their own making. We think stress, scarcity, frustration are external circumstances. They’re not. They’re the box we built from our stories, beliefs, rules, and laws.

The box doesn’t change on its own. You can’t break out by doing the same things that built it. In order to change, you have to change.

Watching my kids sledding – easy to see their boxes, their limits. But seeing our own box from inside? Nearly impossible without help.

Lesson

You are in a box. Bottom: laws of nature. One side: beliefs. Top: rules you made up. Other side: stories you rehearse. If the box contains stress, you stay stressed. Scarcity, you stay in scarcity. Abundance, you stay abundant.

“You don’t get your own truth” – your beliefs, stories, rules are your experience. They may seem true to you, but there’s only one Truth. Nurses not washing hands was “true” until washing hands dramatically improved recovery. The box shifted.

Your box is built on what you see as true, not what is Truth. That’s why you stay trapped.

You need outside perspective. God put us here to be connected, to invite others to give clarity and create paradigm shifts.

Coaches ask “Is that true?” and help you discover real Truth. Not your truth. The Truth. Then you start breaking walls, ceiling, changing the box.

Apply

This week, identify one belief, story, or rule defining your box. Write it down. Ask “Is that true?” not “Is that true for me?” Find one person – coach, mentor, church friend – and say “I believe [X]. Help me question if that’s actually true or just my experience.” Let them challenge your box. Start breaking one wall.

You be blessed!
