Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!

TLDR: Watching my dog on her daily walk inspired deep reflections on the spiritual lessons we can learn from our canine companions – their constant searching, unconditional gratitude, and forgiveness mirror God’s love and show us how to live with curiosity and thankfulness.

What?

This morning while walking my dog, I found myself contemplating what goes on in her head. She’s always searching, sniffing here and there, exploring her surroundings with endless curiosity. If we had trained her better as a puppy, she wouldn’t need a leash and could freely climb through the woods, constantly searching and exploring.

I noticed how similar she is to babies in their first explorations – touching, feeling, wanting to put everything in their mouths to understand it. My dog eternally searches, checking everything out. When she runs outside, she circles our property, examining everything with that same curiosity.

Another striking quality is her eternal gratitude. You could be gone for a week, and when you return, there’s no guilt or shame – just pure joy that you’re back. Dogs forgive fast, remain thankful, enjoy life’s simple pleasures, and love us unconditionally.

Why?

This simple morning observation with my dog reveals profound spiritual truths. The way dogs love unconditionally mirrors how God loves us. Their searching nature reminds us of our own human desire to seek understanding and meaning. Their gratitude challenges us to be more thankful in our own lives.

Lesson

We can learn powerful life lessons from dogs:
1. Be curious and constantly search for understanding
2. Practice unconditional gratitude
3. Forgive quickly without holding grudges
4. Love others without conditions
5. Find joy in simple pleasures

These qualities reflect God’s unconditional love for us. Just as dogs show these traits naturally, we can intentionally cultivate them in our lives as we seek to grow in faith and impact.

Apply

Ask yourself:
– What are you searching for in life right now?
– Where could you be more grateful?

I’ve asked myself these questions. I’m searching for ways to make more impact, serve more people, and share the good news story of heaven. I’m grateful for my home, my wonderful healthy kids, and my great wife who cooks awesome food. I pray for her health and for more connection with Christian men to love and be loved by.

Take a moment to write down what you’re grateful for today. Let that gratitude bless your day and drive you toward greater success and impact with everyone around you.

You Be Blessed.
