Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!
TLDR: Discover why Kingdom Family Leaders wearing Christmas masks filled with stress, anxiety, and unworthiness need connection with another man more than being told to pray more, and how the unconscious-conscious divide creates stress that prayer, faith, and reading can’t fix.
What?
Stress and anxiety. This is the season of wearing the mask. If you’re dealing with stress and anxiety, you must be like “Oh my gosh, it’s November, it’s December. I’ve gotta put on my mask. I’ve gotta be just right. I’ve gotta look good. I’ve gotta act all, look all, show up all,” when inside you might be filled with stress, anxiety, unworthiness.
And the last thing you need to hear is “Be more faithful. Pray more. You’re a Christian man. Read your Bible more. Pray more. Be more faithful.”
It’s hard in this season of the year because it’s supposed to be His celebration. It’s supposed to be cheer. Everything’s supposed to be working out just right. It’s supposed to be wonderful. You’re supposed to look good. The kids are supposed to be happy. Supposed to, supposed to, supposed to, supposed to. And we just can’t get it right. We can’t pray enough. We can’t be faithful enough.
We need to connect. We need to connect with another man. I love that song – “God put a million million doors in the world for His love to walk through.” If you need love to walk through, you need to find a door, and that door is another person.
Because praying, being more faithful, reading the Bible more – do that, continue that. But connect, whether it’s with a coach like me, whether it’s another Christian brother in the church, whether it’s a friend from work. Connect and say “I’ve got a Christmas mask. But underneath it, here’s what’s going on.”
A lot of times, that comes from that unconscious conscious divide – thinking and knowing one thing and believing one thing where unconscious is protecting and guarding and learning from everything you taught it in the past that you may have forgotten about, but it’s still running all those programs. It’s still creating anxiety and stress that doesn’t need to be there. If we can get our conscious and unconscious to connect through a coaching program, I’d love to talk to you if that’s something that sounds interesting.
Why?
I share this because Kingdom Family Leaders during the holidays face unbearable pressure to perform while internally drowning in stress, anxiety, and unworthiness. The Christmas season magnifies every “supposed to” – supposed to be joyful, supposed to look good, supposed to have happy kids, supposed to celebrate perfectly.
When you’re already maxed out and someone tells you “pray more, read your Bible more, be more faithful,” it doesn’t help. It just adds another “supposed to” on the pile. You feel like a failure spiritually on top of feeling like a failure everywhere else.
The answer isn’t less prayer or less Bible. It’s connection with another man who can help you take off the mask and deal with what’s actually underneath. Its a coaches guidance to connect your conscious and unconscious.
Lesson
The Christmas mask is real. The pressure to look good, act right, show up perfectly creates stress and anxiety that you hide behind a cheerful facade. Inside you’re filled with unworthiness, feeling like you can’t get it right, can’t pray enough, can’t be faithful enough.
God put a million doors in the world for His love to walk through. If you need love to walk through, you need to find a door – and that door is another person. Not just prayer. Not just Bible reading. Those are essential, but they’re not acting in faith when you’re dealing with unconscious programs creating stress.
The unconscious-conscious divide means you’re thinking and knowing one thing while your unconscious believes something else. Your unconscious is protecting and guarding based on everything you taught it in the past that you may have forgotten about consciously. It’s still running all those programs, creating anxiety and stress that doesn’t need to be there.
You can pray and read Scripture all day, but if your unconscious is running fear programs from past trauma, rejection, or failure, those programs will keep generating stress regardless of your conscious spiritual practices. Getting conscious and unconscious to connect requires another person – a coach, a Christian brother, a friend – who can help you identify and reprogram what’s actually driving the anxiety.
Apply
This week, identify one man you can connect with authentically. Drop the Christmas mask with him. Say “I’ve got this mask on, but underneath here’s what’s going on.” Share the stress, anxiety, or unworthiness you’re feeling. Don’t just pray more – connect more. Find the door God put another person in to let His love walk through to you.
You be blessed!
