Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!
Where are you headed in life? I can’t get the soccer field of life out of my mind. That kid on the soccer field knew exactly where he was going, relentlessly pursuing the ball no matter what obstacles came his way. It got me thinking about the importance of having a clear vision to guide our steps.
Yesterday, I had a profound experience during the Warriors Bible study with Garrett J. White. As we meditated on Scripture, I sensed God telling me to focus on launching my Kingdom Family Leader Mastermind group and trust Him with the rest. So much of the Bible reminds us to “fear not” and let go of worry. When we know where we’re going, we can move forward with confidence and fearlessness.
Habakkuk 2:2 puts vision’s use this way: “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run.” We need to keep our vision front and center, returning to it constantly for direction and motivation. It needs to be written.
For me, that means living out my personal mission statement: “I live with integrity, living, learning, and sharing with my family, friends, and community to humbly glorify God my creator, thank Jesus my Savior, and follow the Holy Spirit, my guide.”
But it’s not enough to just have a mission. We need a clear vision of what it looks like in action, and core values to support it. My core values are:
1. Do what’s right
2. Better together
3. Process first
When I start to feel afraid or doubtful about my next steps, I come back to that mission. It reminds me why this matters and gives me the courage to keep running the race.
The same is true for our families. We need a shared mission, vision, and values to unite us and guide our decisions. It’s a powerful tool for discipline and discipleship, always pointing our kids back to the bigger picture. Teaching them self sufficiency.
I encourage you to take some time to craft a personal and family mission statement and vision. The book “Living Forward” by Michael Hyatt (affiliate link: https://amzn.to/4bNzu59) is a great resource for your first life plan. And if you want to go deeper, consider joining a mastermind group for support, accountability, and iron-sharpening-iron community.
When you have a compelling mission supported by core values and vision, you’ll not only be blessed, but you’ll become a blessing to everyone around you! Keep your eyes on the goal and don’t give up.
You be blessed!
