Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya! I’ve been diving into some books lately, and I came across a phrase that I heard years ago but didn’t fully grasp until now: “Be, Do, Have.” (do I really grasp it now–I’m always growing)
Back then, I thought “being” and “doing” were the same thing, but now I realize they are distinct steps in the process of achieving our goals and finding fulfillment. “Being” is about our thoughts, vision, and visualization. It’s the formation of ideas and the practice of thinking like our desired outcome. This is where we need to spend time, as described in books like “Think and Grow Rich.”
“Doing” comes after we’ve established our vision. It’s about taking action, learning, and practicing what we need to do to achieve our goals. Once we’ve mastered “being” and “doing,” we can “have” the results and embody the future self we’ve envisioned.
I experienced the power of visualization firsthand when I was an alpine ski racing coach. We would take our young athletes to compete in the Junior Olympics, where they would face intimidating downhill courses. To prepare, we would spend days inspecting the course, visualizing every turn and roll. The athletes would physically lean and adjust their bodies as they mentally rehearsed the race, aiming to match their visualization time with their actual performance.
As I work on my own personal growth, I’m focusing on three steps: Bless Yourself, Expand Your Territory, and Serve His Kingdom. Blessing yourself involves taking care of your body, budget, relationships, and spiritual connection. Expanding your territory is about increasing your influence, whether by making it bigger or deeper. And serving His kingdom is the ultimate goal.
Financial contentment is a key foundation for blessing yourself and creating abundance. It can make or break marriages and families, so it’s crucial to get it right. It’s the starting point for my coaching programs
That’s all for today. You be blessed!
