I’m doing my daily check-in, talking about God, family, abundant life, adventure, and technology. We had a great weekend, we overloaded it a bit since Leah and I are going to Tony Robbins’ event next weekend.

Yesterday, while watching a Bible study on discerning the voice of God, our 8-year-old wanted to show me some video games. I invited him to join us, and he got a kick out of one of Priscilla Schreyer’s stories about a family celebrating Christmas. It was rewarding to see him fully engaged in an adult Bible study.

For adventure, we went ice skating. Bet-z got upset while she tried hard to improve, as she always does, but I was proud of her. Afterwards, we went for ice cream at the pub, and they got to play battleship. We also announced that mom and I will be “checked out” next weekend because we’re checking into something else.

This morning at breakfast, I asked the kids if they wanted to know how to build and protect their greatness. I told them that when they tell themselves they’re going to do something and don’t follow through, it chips away at their greatness. But when they keep their word, it adds to it. I shared that I struggle with this too, and encouraged them to be careful about what they say they’ll do.

Building greatness involves deciding what you’re going to do and doing it, committing to it, and evaluating your performance. It’s about keeping the promises we make to ourselves. I mentioned a great YouTube video about making your bed and how it’s a simple victory to start the day with momentum.

We also played a cooperative board game after soccer practice and ice skating, and lost. At breakfast, I asked what we could have done differently, and they had great solutions. We build our greatness by evaluating our past progress and choosing what to do mindfully.

Your greatness will lead to an abundant and impactful life. Thanks for joining me today, and I hope this impacts your day in a positive and outstanding way. You be blessed!
