Today, I’m reflecting on the power of predetermination in our spiritual lives and the danger of complacency. I was struck by a footnote on Proverbs 7:21 in my study Bible that highlighted how certain circumstances – the right time, place, and position – can lead us into temptation and poor choices. Here’s what is said: “When the location, time, and setting were allowed, the seduction was easy.”

To combat this, we need to set expectations and rehearse our responses to potential temptations. It’s like the “Just Say No” campaign – by practicing our response, we’re better prepared when faced with real-life situations.

This principle applies to various areas of life – from avoiding premarital sex to resisting drugs and alcohol. The key is to think through scenarios in advance and decide how you’ll respond. My mentor calls this “grounding” – considering all aspects of a situation and predetermined your righteous response.

By doing this, we can check our intentions against God’s Word and ensure we’re aligned with His will. It’s also crucial to discuss these predetermined responses with other Christian men, creating accountability and support.

Remember, if you’re ever unsure about a situation, it’s okay to wait, pray, and seek guidance from fellow believers. By planning ahead and staying grounded in God’s Word, we can find abundance and make a positive impact in our lives and the lives of others. You can also choose the “location, time, and setting” to create abundance and impact.
