Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya! As we enter the second quarter of the year, I want to talk about the importance of conducting a quarterly review. I am currenlty performing mine, looking back at the last 12 weeks to assess what went well and what didn’t. Another exercise I’m doing right now is asking myself, “What do I want?” I’m coming up with three big, hairy, audacious goals (BHAGs) and then drilling down into the “why” behind each one. I keep asking “why?” until I get to the core, emotional reason for wanting those things. It can be a deep and personal process, so it’s helpful to have someone you trust to guide you through it.
Experts like Dean Graziosi and Simon Sinek (https://youtu.be/u4ZoJKF_VuA?si=lkkHNih3RuIcFYWq) emphasize the power of knowing your “why.” When you understand the purpose behind your goals, you become more connected to them, and they pull you forward. Sometimes, discovering your core “why” can even lead you to refine or change your initial goals.
I’m currently working on identifying my own deep “why,” and I’d appreciate your prayers as I strive to gain that clarity. I believe that once we understand our true “why” our true motivation, it opens up a world of possibilities and abundance.
So, my challenge to you is to follow this path: Figure out what you want—your BHAGs. Then, drill down to find the real “why” behind them. Check if there’s alignment between your “why” and your initial “wants” and if there is, keep that connection strong by reviewing it daily and taking massive action. Put your “why” statement and your goals somewhere you’ll see them every day, like your bathroom mirror.
When you have a strong “why,” you’ll be able to push through the challenges and achieve more than you ever thought possible. You’ll live a better life and make a bigger impact on the world.
