Don’t Wait for Retro. Be CI/CD all the time where CI/CD means Continuous Improvement/Continuous Discernment.
#High-PerformanceSoftwareDevelopment

Hey there, it’s Brian from High-Performance Software Development. Today, I want to talk to you about retro and why you shouldn’t wait for it.

A lot of people think that retro is just about discussing the pains, problems, and difficulties we face each day, but that’s not the case. Retro is about looking at the entire process and seeing what went well, what didn’t go so well, and how we can improve.

If you run into a challenge or have a question, don’t wait for retro or even standup. Reach out to your team right away. That’s what they’re there for – to support and help you. Remember, communication is the solution to every problem in the universe. I used to preach this when I was a ski racing coach, and I still believe it today.

If there’s a communication gap or blocker, we can’t be a high-performance dev team. So, speak up and bring it to the team’s attention. In fact, I’ve recoined the term CICD to mean Continuous Improvement and Continuous Discernment. Always be discerning what the best thing is that we can do right now and how we can be better. Do this for yourself, your team, and your company.

Don’t wait for retro to make things better. Speak up, share your thoughts, and become a high-performance dev team. Thanks for listening!
