Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya!
Everybody needs a mastermind. Now, I’m not talking about villains plotting to rob a bank (though that does make for great movies). I’m talking about the concept first coined by Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich.”
A mastermind is “a group of highly motivated individuals who meet regularly to encourage, challenge, and assist one another.” (Tom Schwab & Aaron Walker in the Mastermind Blueprint) It’s about creating synergy – achieving something bigger and more profound together than any of us could alone.
There are three levels of support everyone needs:
- Accountability: A small group that keeps you on track with your goals.
- Coaching: Personal guidance to fast-track your progress.
- Mastermind: A board of directors for your life, helping you shape your vision, mission, and values.
Unlike online courses or group coaching (which often misuse the term), a true mastermind involves mutual investment in each other’s journeys. If you’re not showing up, contributing, and receiving, you’re out!
The beauty of a mastermind is that it pushes you to grow, even when it’s uncomfortable. Like I used to tell my ski students – you can’t improve without embracing change and discomfort.
Remember, you’re always moving in life – either forward or backward. There’s no standing still. A mastermind helps ensure you’re moving in the right direction.
So, find or build an accountability group, get a coach, and join a mastermind. You’ll be amazed at what God can do through the people He puts in your life. After all, you’re one of the million doors His love can walk through – and a mastermind needs you as much as you need it!
You be blessed!
