Top o’ the Mornin’ to Ya! Today, I want to talk about “mygreements.” This concept came up during a recent CORE Life retreat with the Black Belt World Class Speakers Academy, where we discussed the importance of making and meeting agreements.

An agreement is when two or more people come together and clearly define what they will or will not do. The problem arises when we start a conversation but don’t bring it to a point of clarity, leading to “mygreements” – unfair, unbalanced, and unfounded expectations that often go unmet.

Good expectations, on the other hand, come from well-defined agreements that have been discussed and stated clearly in words. In business, this might take the form of a contract, but the purpose isn’t to take someone to court. Rather, it’s a way to hold each other accountable and make changes if needed.

When we enter into an agreement, we give our word that we will act, behave, or contribute in a specific way. This is where the real challenge lies – in keeping our word. It’s crucial that we don’t agree to things we’re not ready, prepared, or able to do.

To achieve more in life, we need to increase the value of our word. Stand behind what you say you’ll do, and don’t overcommit. It’s okay not to do everything or please everyone, but when we make solid agreements instead of “mygreements,” we set ourselves up for success.

If an agreement is particularly complex or significant, put it in writing. Remember, most people do the best they can with the skills, experiences, and life they have.

In summary, make agreements, give your word, and stand by it. Do what you say you’ll do, and your life will improve every day.

You be blessed!
